In 1982, Ronald Reagan was President. Since then, society has raised the white flag to the hippie generation of Bill and Hillary Clinton. The foundation of the root of the West is capitalism. Even our critics admit that- critics which have been fighting for its decline for centuries. So what do you do when you can’t argue the merits of a systemic change in economic system? You resort to undermining the system in the hope that the people will lose faith in it. The foundation of capitalism is the limiting virtues of religion. Like it or not, capitalism has grown solely under the microscope of Christianity, which limits its natural tendency to excess. The only thing that doesn’t make capitalism greedy is a moral businessman to limit that tendency. Today, though, culture has attacked the Christian ethics of the capitalist. We have perverted the meaning of our freedoms to warrant unlimited personal gratification. The media attacks the church, culture feeds us a new meaning of love- sex only please, and the system itself is being attacked at the foundation. The inevitable has run its course. Strike up Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries.
